LITURGICAL MINISTRIES

Minister of Hospitality (Usher)

The Minister of Hospitality is very often the first person that one meets upon arrival for services.  He/she creates a hospitable environment; assists in preparing the church building for each Liturgy; is responsible for welcoming the congregation; and assists in taking the collection at each Mass.  This ministry is open to both men and women who by their nature seek to welcome and provide a comfortable environment for our community as we come to pray.  If you have an interest in serving your community by becoming a Minister of Hospitality, either fill out the on-line volunteer form here or call the Rectory.

Eucharistic Minister

The Eucharistic Minister assists the clergy primarily in the distribution of the sacred body and blood of Jesus Christ to the congregation during Mass.  The Eucharistic Minister also brings the Eucharist to the members of our community who are ill and/or homebound.  The Eucharistic Ministry is open to Confirmed members of the Roman Catholic community who are in good standing with the church and her teachings and who possess a reverent love for Christ's presence in the Eucharist.  Formal preparation is provided for this ministry.  To volunteer to become a Eucharistic Minister, either fill out the on-line volunteer form here or call the Rectory.  More about Eucharistic Ministers

Lectors

Proclaiming the Word of God as revealed in the Scriptures is a primary task of the Church.  The Scriptures call our attention to God's love for his people and the salvation, which is ours through Jesus Christ, His Son.  The Ministry of Lector invites confirmed Roman Catholics to proclaim God's Word to the assembly.  This Ministry calls for individuals who have the ability to clearly articulate and proclaim the sacred Word of the Scriptures.  Training sessions are provided on an as-needed basis.  If you would like to become a Lector, either fill out the on-line volunteer form here or call the Rectory.  More about Lectors

Altar Servers

Youths in grades four and above can participate in this ministry which is open to both boys and girls of the parish.  Training sessions are provided twice yearly in the fall and spring.  If you would like to become a Server, either fill out the on-line volunteer form here or call the Rectory.

MUSIC MINISTRIES

Cantors

Cantors lead the singing at many of the Masses.  St. Catherine is blessed with several very talented individuals who do this special work.  The cantors work with the Director of Cantors, Chris Wallace, to choose the songs and psalms that will be done each Sunday  If you have singing talent and would like to become a Cantor, either fill out the on-line volunteer form here or call the Rectory.

Adult Choir

The Adult choir is open to any one 16 and older who has the desire to help during the Liturgy in this special way.  The choir sings during the 10:30 mass from September until June with practices held on Thursday evenings during the school year.  Special liturgies during the Christmas and Easter seasons are enhanced by the beauty of the voices of the choir.    If you would like to participate in the choir, either fill out the on-line volunteer form here or call the Rectory.  It is said, 'When you sing, you pray twice.'  It is especially true at St Catherine's.

Children’s Choir

In addition we also have a Children's Choir, grades I through 8.  For information call Chris Wallace at the Rectory.
