Silver and Gold Wedding Anniversary Mass - Couples, were you married in 1964 or 1989? You are warmly invited to celebrate your 25th or 50th wedding anniversary with the Church of Paterson. Bishop Serratelli will be the main celebrant at Mass at our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Pompton Plains on Sunday, November 16 at 4:00 pm. Arrangements can be made by contacting the parish office. Application forms are available through Friday, October 31. A confirmation letter will be sent from the Diocesan Center once your application has been processed. Congratulations on this joyous occasion.
Tuesday September 30 - Lord, Teach Me to Pray - A three-part prayer series for men and women based on Ignatian Spirituality. Part 1, 'Praying Christian Virtues', helps deepen prayer life, and discover what to do for dryness and obstacles in prayer. It also introduces the different methods of Ignatian prayer, meditation, contemplation and Consciousness Examen. Small groups will meet with 2 trained facilitators for 1 - 2 hours once a week to pray and faith share. At present we are offering Part 1 for women only. The group will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 30th at 7 pm in the parish library. To register, call Joyce Mathur at 973- 625-0826.
Saturday October 4 - Women's Communion Breakfast -The Annual Women’s Communion Breakfast will be held on Saturday, October 4 with guest speaker Fr. Joe Garbarino! 8:00 am Mass followed by breakfast at Rockaway River Country Club. Entertainment & raffle prizes. Book a table.. open to friends and relatives! Tickets go on sale after all Masses on 9/20-21, and 9/27-28 at $20. No tickets at the door. Questions? Please call Cretia at 973-989-9901.
Saturday October 4 - Blessing of the Animals -The annual blessing of the animals will be held on Saturday, October 4 at noon. Please bring your pets outside the front doors of the church. All animals must be on leash.
Saturday November 10 - The Mass of Anointing will be celebrated Saturday, November 10th at 11:00 am, followed by a light luncheon in the Parish Center. Who should receive this Sacrament? The ill, anyone in a 12-step recovery program, those preparing for surgery or suffering from depression, anxiety, or addiction. Please complete this form and return to the rectory (9:00 to 3:00) or drop in the Sunday collection basket.
Moms & Tots - The Moms & Tots playgroup will meet every TUESDAY from 9:30 - 11:00 in the gym beginning September 16. Please join us for free play, a snack and craft each week. All we ask is that you bring a small donation for the Fr. English food pantry! Please contact Kerrie Boland (973-335-5673 or caulfika@hotmail.com ) with any questions. Loaves and Fishes is in need of a few caring cooks to provide meals for families in need of help for just a few weeks, and for the families who receive meals on a regular basis. If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, please contact Katherine DiRicco at 973-263-2158 or kdiricco@optonline.net. Please consider helping our parish family with this worthwhile ministry.
If you or a family member cannot attend Sunday Mass due to long-term illness, disabling injury, old age, etc., please be sure to inform the Parish Office 973-334-7131 at your earliest convenience. With this information, Fr. Peter can arrange to visit those who are homebound and bring the Eucharist and celebrate the Sacrament of the Sick.
Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Paterson has a clothing donation box in our parking lot. We welcome the donation of gently used clothing and small household items such as working appliances. Call 1-877-343-3651 if you have any questions or should need a free pick-up of larger quantities of clothes or household items.
